Because Jesus was one person and now he's given us the gift that he had, the Holy Spirit. Now it's in every person who claims the name of Jesus, that they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and that they believe in him. And so if there's millions of people who have the same spirit that lived in one person, Jesus Christ, who now lives in them, now there the how many hands is that? How many brains is that? How many ears is that? How many eyes is that? How many bodies is that? Well, hello everybody, and welcome to uh Fearless Friday, another episode on the Fearless Queens Podcast. We are your hosts. My name is Sarah. And I am Tina. We are excited that Holy Ghost is coming in hot today. We are talking about, um, we are doing a series about all of the gifts the Holy Spirit has given us. And this one is on the prophetic side. Remember, we talked about prophet, prophetic, and power. Those are two categories that the Holy Spirit gives. And this is on the prophetic side, and it is the gift of tongues.
SPEAKER_01There's the speaking in tongues, and then there's also the interpretation of the tongues. So we're just gonna tie those into one another because that's would make the most sense for you guys to understand tongues and speaking in tongues and what it is. And cool coolio, this Sunday actually is Pentecost Sunday. So it is 40 days after Jesus ascended, and it's when the Holy Spirit fire comes down on the church in the book of Acts, which the church is the people. It's not a building, it's where they get, it's where the people gather, but it's the people, it's not the church. So I just think those are some really powerful things to touch on. You can have a church at your home, you can have a worship night with your friends. That is all praising incense to the Lord. Absolutely. So this was where they were all in the upper room, as we call it, um, in the Bible, where they were the Holy Spirit came upon them and they were speaking in tongues. And it it's so crazy because it's not a topic that people usually touch on, because it's very, you have to be very sure that you are speaking biblically, especially on this, because it could it could go off the wrong way. And we don't want that. We only want the word of God, we only want to speak the truth, the Holy Spirit in us speaking to you.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So all today is gonna be Bible, the B-I-B-L-E, the basic instruction before leaving earth. So I just want to touch on um Acts. This is chapter one, verse number one, because it goes on. It says, In my first letter, I told you about Jesus' life and teachings and how he returned to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions from the Holy Spirit. And we can't move on without knowing that it's instructions from who, Tina?
SPEAKER_01Jesus.
SPEAKER_02The Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_01Right. So it says in my version, it says, until the day when he was taken up after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostled apostles whom he had chosen.
SPEAKER_02And if you keep going down, this is um Acts chapter one, verse number seven. So this is the capital, the the father, so capital F sets those dates. He replied, and they are not for you to know, but when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to testify about me with great effect to the people in Jerusalem throughout Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth about my death and resurrection. And it's talking about how John baptized with water and he reminded them that you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in just a few days. And then another time he appeared to them and they asked, Lord, are you going to free Israel from Rome now and restore us as an independent nation? And that's what those dates were referring to is a nobody really know until you wait for the Holy Spirit and you receive the power to testify. And I think it's important to touch on that because we see how bold the apostles are when they go out and they're spreading the good news, but they waited in the upper room to receive the power of the Holy Spirit and then went out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is so, oh, that's so amazing. And I was also thinking about how in Acts 110 it says, While they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes and said, Why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will come in the same way you saw him go into heaven. And my recollection, at least when I read it, it reminds me of like so many people that just like sit and stare, but don't make things happen. But luckily, these two angels were there, were like, it it he'll come back. Don't you worry, you'll notice when he comes back. This is my paraphrase. Go, go wait for his Holy Spirit to come upon you and then do the work.
SPEAKER_02And this is what they did, which is super awesome because the Bible sometimes you just not your own interpretation, but you're left wondering what was going on between A and B. Will they give you like the A half B before you get to B? Yeah. And it says, Um, what did they do? So they walked the half mile back to Jerusalem and held a prayer meeting in an upstairs room of the house where they were staying. And it goes on to list who was there. So I just recommend read your Bibles. Um, we're having a little study today, which is awesome.
SPEAKER_01Um devoting themselves to prayer together with the women. Like, what?
SPEAKER_02Several women, including Jesus' mother, was also there. And it goes on. Let's just say it. It's Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James, Simon, Judas, which is the son of James, so not Iscariot, and then the other brothers of Jesus. And this prayer meeting, y'all, we try to do prayer meetings, and people, it's like an hour or like 30 minutes. This this prayer meeting went on for several days.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing.
SPEAKER_02Several days.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's it's interesting. So Sarah and I, I can't remember if we talked about this ever, but Sarah and I went to a kind of a retreat in Tennessee. We say it the habakuk, habakuck, however you want to say it, however, it's supposed to be said. And we had an amazing experience learning all about the Holy Spirit. And on the last night before we were gonna leave the next day, we had our own version of a prayer meeting, and it was hours. It was and hours and hours. And finally, we knew that the guy leading had to get to the airport in like six hours. And so we're like, it's time to cut off the prayer. And I remember thinking, I don't want to, I don't want to be done praying because it was just such a beautiful experience. And you hear that, I remember hearing that years ago. I mean, like, what are you gonna pray about for six hours? Oh, you will when you have the right people surrounded, it's amazing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're all on the same mission for the one mission. God brings things to the forefront of your mind because there's only so much you can pray about yourself. And when you get to a point where you're done praying about you and you're praying for others, there's so much brokenness in the world that how could you not keep going?
SPEAKER_01I I was talking about prayer the other day with someone, and it was the greatest prayers for me are the ones that God has answered for other people through the words that He's given me to pray for them. Like it's other people's prayers that I've prayed that bring so many blessings into my life. You get out of the self, out of the me, and into like serve and we and what are we doing for the Lord? It's the Lord's spirit in me speaking. And the God is not a God of um selfishness, he's a righteous, majestic, beautiful, like serving servant. And so when he fills you, you don't, at least for me, I don't necessarily want to pray for myself as much as I want to pray for other people. And I think if I had to guess, I could be wrong. Again, this this what I'm about to say is not scripture, but I think that's the beauty of speaking in tongues. You are building your relationship with the Lord. You don't know what you're saying unless you're an interpreter, but the Holy Spirit comes upon you. For me, I notice like my mouth just goes. I can feel it in my tonsils and my mouth just goes. I have no idea what I'm saying. But then all of a sudden, I will watch things around like God shift things around me. I have no idea what I said, which is perfect because I don't want to boast about anything unless I'm boasting about the Lord.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So let's get into so what Tina's talking about is your own heavenly language with the Lord. So if I mean, and the Lord says to ask for every gift, these aren't things that only one person can have one thing of. Like you ask the Lord for an abundance of all of them, whether or not he gives them to you, that's you know, between the Holy Spirit and what God's plan is for you. But um, the interpretation of tongues is different than the heavenly language of tongues. So two different things. And what Tina was talking about was the own your own heavenly language. So that's something that only the Lord knows what you're saying, and it's protection because the moment we speak something out loud, not only does the Lord hear it, but the enemy hears it as well. This is a heavenly language that they, his demons himself, they cannot understand. So whatever you're praying in tongues, only the Lord knows what's going on and he can go to work, and it's a protected language, if you will. Yeah. So you don't need an interpreter for that because it's between you and God. And the only person that needs to know what's going on is God because he's the one that gave that to you. The difference between that and interpretation is you need two people, two parts, and it's to edify the body of Christ. So one person has the gift of interpretation, the other one has the gift of tongues, but it's tongues for the collective, it's tongues for the body. So it's a heavenly language meant for others to be able to understand with the gift of interpretation. So it's a two-part, we talked about prophecy a few um episodes ago. So when somebody is prophesying over you, the difference in that versus interpretation of tongues is they're speaking in a language that you know. Whether you're speaking Portuguese or you're speaking English or you're speaking Chinese, you're speaking that language for those people. So now the interpretation of tongues is somebody speaking in tongues. It's that language that edifies the body, and that person's present while that other person is speaking in tongues to tell the body what they're saying. So it's as if somebody's speaking Spanish up in here and we have an interpretation, interpreter here telling you what we're saying because they're speaking in a language we don't understand because we're speaking English. Yeah, it's just like that, where they're speaking this heavenly language, but that language is meant for the body to know. And this person has the gift of the gift of interpretation to tell us what it's going. So it's a two-part of prophesying rather than somebody speaking in English and we are knowing what that prophecy means because they're speaking the language that we're speaking.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I just I keep hearing it's all about the father and the spirit living in us, it's not about the person. Yes. And I think that's where we keep the Lord keeps us all humble because it's it's not just about that one person. Here it says, the one who speaks in tongues builds up himself. But the one who prophesies builds up the church. And this one is my favorite. Paul says, now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets so that the church may be built up. And it just makes me think about it's a whole group of people. Like I said at the beginning, the church is not a building. The church is the body of Christ. And we are all to be encouraging one another and building one another up. If one person that's speaking in tongues seems like this far off person that is, you know, hyper-spiritual and we can't get there, then they've missed the mark. They've missed the point of the whole thing, which is to build up the church. When I speak in tongues, I had actually someone asked me at the um Light the Way event, like, well, do you do it loud? I said, no, absolutely not, because it is my relationship with the Lord. And a lot of times, well, actually, not a lot of times, all the times, he's in control of it. God is in control of what comes out. And so I'll be doing it and it's him doing it. And I I have no control over it.
SPEAKER_02Uh, could you read that again? Because I definitely want to break it down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, so this is first Corinthians 14. And I'll just start at, I'll just start at 14.1 because I think it is important for this to be the to have a prequel so that you got you are not confused. Because this is very deep, this is very intense, it's very powerful, it's majestic, it's beautiful, but I want we want you to understand.
SPEAKER_02And it's nothing to be afraid of. Some people I think are afraid of the Holy Spirit, and they're like, This is this is weird. Um, I don't want the Holy Spirit fire. No, you do. And we want you to want it, and we don't want you to be afraid of it. So I think having the knowledge and revelation of what it actually is, and you might be somebody who knows all about it. So hopefully, maybe this is just a reminder for you or you want something a little bit different because we've said it a different way, um, or more understanding. And if this is something you've never heard before, well, I'm grateful that you came on today.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And Holy Spirit, it it's when do you want to just tell the story? God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, just a quick recap.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01God created the earth.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes. So yes, real quick. God created, they're all three in one. So it's God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. They're a three in one triune God. Uh, and then God is Jesus in human form. He put on a body, he put on flesh, and came down as Jesus, the son of man and the son of God. And then the Holy Spirit is what gave Jesus that power to do all of these miracles here on earth as it is in heaven. And that is the gift that he gave us when he ascended from earth the second time he rose from the dead. And so he went up and then he told his, you know, the apostles, wait on the Holy Spirit. Don't go out and do your own thing, wait on him, because the power comes from the Holy Spirit, and it's God's power, it's Jesus' power, the Holy Spirit. And they're all he's no she's, no it's. This is a he pronoun with a capital H. So um and he don't get it twisted.
SPEAKER_01He fills you with his wisdom, his discernment, his knowledge, his interpretations, and you'll know it's him because it's so it'll be, it'll get more and more clear the more you listen to him. That's a whole nother topic that I think is absolutely beautiful to touch on another time. So uh, 1 Corinthians 14, one, pursue love and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. And if you want to know more about prophecy and you haven't heard our podcast, go back two or three episodes. For one who speaks in in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God. For no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the spirit, the Holy Spirit living in him. I just said that last part. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. So, kind of what Sarah was explaining. The one who speaks in tongues builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.
SPEAKER_02That's where I want to pause because you're you're like, well, what does it mean to build up myself? It's building and strengthening your faith. So you it's building the relationship between you and Christ and edifying yourself. And it's good. We need to be able to build our faith. It's like you're going to the gym and you're building, you're picking up those weights and you're building the faith between you and God. That is the purpose of the gift of tongues for yourself, your own heavenly language. So if you don't know what to pray and you have the gift of tongues, then you don't know what you're praying for, period. Because you don't understand what you're saying, but God does. So it's building up yourself and your relationship with the Lord. What a beautiful gift that is. And so the next one is what she was talking about. Will you read that?
SPEAKER_01Um, and even think about as I as I'm listening to you talk, even think about, you know, when you're praying sometimes. I hope, I pray that everyone that listens to this praise and that it gets to a point sometimes where you you you have nothing to utter. So just like sounds come out of your mouth, or weeping or mourning or or crying or laughter, and those sounds that start to come out that you essentially have no control over because you're just in the spirit giving praise to the Lord, that in a sense is the utterance of tongues because you're not speaking anymore. It's just sounds coming out of your mouth that God, God's breath breathed in you, like Yahweh. It's Yahweh, right?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, which is why there's a two-part to it.
SPEAKER_02So it's a prophesying, somebody is speaking in tongues to edify the body, and that person is side by side. That gift is being utilized with their gift to tell you what they're saying, different than the heavenly language between just you and God, because this message is from God for other people as well.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. And it says in in six, now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation and knowledge or prophecy or teaching? Which is exactly what you just said. Like that, that's why God wants us to be a body building one another up through the revelation and knowledge that the Lord is giving each person.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh, I wow. My version has an analogy, and yours might too. Um, this is verse seven says, even let's just go back. Mine, let's go to six. Dear friends, even if I myself should come to you talking in some language you don't understand, how would that help you? But if I speak plainly what God has revealed to me and tell you the things I know and what is going to happen and the great truths of God's word, that is what you need. That is what will help you. Even musical instruments, the flute, for instance, or the harp, are examples of the need for speaking in plain, simple English rather than in unknown languages. For no one will recognize the tune the flute is playing unless each note is sounded clearly. And if the army bulger doesn't play the right notes, how will the soldiers know that they are being called to battle? In the same way, if you talk to a person in some language he doesn't understand, how is he gonna know what you mean? You might as well be talking to an empty room. So if somebody came in here with speaking, speaking Portuguese on our podcast and we didn't have an interpreter, what good is that gonna do? No, nothing. That's why you need an interpreter. So the two part of a heavenly language that edifies the body needs the interpreter. So it's one gift being utilized with the other gift to edify the body. I hope that is, you know, making clock in for everyone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I think of how the um scripture that she spoke on Friday night, if I have, you know, speak in all these tongues and I have not love, I have nothing. I'm only like a banging, clanging sound.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the gong. And it says that in the Bible. If you're doing if you have every single gift, but you don't have love, then there's no point to the gift.
SPEAKER_01Depart from me. I never knew you.
SPEAKER_02The thing about gifts, too, is you can you get them, you have them, uh, and you can walk in them and not use them for the Lord. So that is why you see celebrities or famous people, um, people who are very even people that aren't well known, but they're very good musicians, or they're very good at um motivational speaking, or they're very good at sports, but they're doing it and it's because of me, and it's all about me, and there's no glory to the one who gave them those gifts. It's different than they're walking in those gifts, but they're not walking in the spirit, utilizing those gifts.
SPEAKER_01I had a conversation with someone on Saturday night, Saturday night because we were talking about a singer and how, you know, this conversation between three people was, you know, well, this person is demonic. Well, no, they're not demonic. Well, yeah, they are because look what they're singing about. And then someone else comes in the conversation and she says, Well, I don't know if this person is demonic, but she's making billions of dollars and she's bowing to something, and there's no representation of Jesus Christ in her life, and you're bowing to something. And I was like, Wow, that was a crazy interpretation of what I was trying to say, but it wasn't coming out clearly. And which brings me to one thing that we learned at the Havakuk when we were there is the gifts are for others. You freely give and you freely receive. Essentially, the more you pour out to other people, the more the Holy Spirit fills you, and it just becomes a circle, a beautiful cycle in your life.
SPEAKER_02Yes. When God blesses me, it's for me to bless you, and when God blesses you, it's For you to bless them. Thank you, Jerry Flowers. Uh, and with that, it's because it's not me, me, me, mine, mine, mine, my gift, my wealth, my ego, my life. It's for the benefit of other people. And the more that you give freely, just like Tina said, the more you are filled. It says, pour out your spirit. A pour out doesn't mean fill in and keep in. Pour out is to go and fill out and build more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, it talks about it in the Old Testament, Chronicles 7, 14 or whatever. I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. So back.
SPEAKER_02The 14 is I will heal their land if my people pray. But I mean, if all of us are praying and we're unified in the body of Christ and praying for a specific thing, how much more will God's spirit hear us and use us and God from heaven here? And Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God praying and interceding for us. It's just so beautiful. Like we serve a God that is a three in part for a purpose.
SPEAKER_01So I'm gonna go over where it says, if any speak in tongue, this I feel like is important kind of it's an important kind of rule that is in the Bible. And I think it means something to follow it, because it could create a lot of confusion. Probably it has created a lot of confusion. So I just want to touch on it super quick. It's 1 Corinthians 14, 27. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. Which I think is powerful to remember when you are in a church. If you do not, if you're witnessing tongues on the podium and they're not able to interpret it, I would just test that against the spirit of God. Pray. I had an experience where I had to do the same thing. I saw it happening and I was very confused. I wasn't sure. I didn't know where to go with it. So if that happens, don't quickly go judge the church, right? Test it against the spirit of God, pray about it, talk to a seasoned, God-fearing, Holy Spirit-filled leader and take it from there.
SPEAKER_02I think it's worthy of continuing on for 29 and 30 because she ended at 27 and 28. Um, but I want to go up a little bit because it keeps bringing up prophecy. And I know we have a whole-blown episode on it, but just in case you missed it or you're like, let me know what that is again. Prophecy having a fancy schmancy word of saying preaching the deep truths of God. Sometimes prophecy, I mean, there are prop, there are prophets that happen in the Bible. Habakkuk was one, Jeremiah was one, Isaiah was one. It's a foreshadowing of what's to come. They're a warning of this is what's going to happen on the earth, and they're warning people. Um, and it might be hundreds of years from then, or you know, a few years from then, or whatever it may have you. But essentially, the gift of prophecy is being able to preach the message of God. And so, in this same chapter that we're in, is also the same chapter that gets a bad rap for women should be silent during the church meetings. And here we are two women preaching the word of God or teaching the word of God or prophesying the word of God. Because again, what is prophecy? It's preaching the deep truths of God. What is prophecy, you ask? It is preaching the messages of God, and it helps the entire church grow in holiness and happiness. So don't get it twisted. Some things you got to look at the context. When was this? Who was they, who were they talking to? When was this written? Um, we've been, I personally have been questioned many of times of who am I to have a podcast and talk about the Lord. Well, as women, we are called to teach. We are called to teach the word of God and pass the baton on to the next generation. Um, how sad it would be if I, Tina and I knew all the not even new, because it's not us, it's the Holy Spirit giving the wisdom and revelation. And we kept it all to ourselves. That is hoarding the gifts, that is hoarding the word. And God, you know, Jesus says, Go out and go out into all the nations, not just one, and make disciples.
SPEAKER_01Well, let's go over to Acts 2, where it's let's just real quick, Acts 2.17 from the prophet Joel in the old testament and now the new testament in Acts 2.17. And in the last days it shall be God declares, God declared it, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. So and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams, even male servants and female servants.
SPEAKER_02And so you're probably like, so the Bible is contradicting itself? No, because the Bible doesn't do that. So if you're feeling some type of way, ask the Lord for revelation, ask the Lord to lead you to scripture uh that debunks the things because forgive us for we know not what we do. We don't understand until you do, and then once you know, what are you gonna do with it? So I just want to let you know, girls, ladies, sisters, don't let somebody shut you down. If you're preaching the word of God or teaching the word of God, there's a difference between, you know, leading a church versus, you know, teaching, you know, I do believe the the women that I see leading a church, it's alongside their husband because there is an order. It's God, the husband, the woman, the family, the rest. So I have yet to go to a church myself personally that is just a woman. Um, it's always a male, and then the female will speak as well. Because if you really truly think about a husband and wife, who's the closest person to a pastor? If that's a man, it's the wife. And if both of them are teaching the word of God together, how beautiful that is, because it's two different perspectives, but that's the same union it's coming from because she's a male and or I'm sorry, because she is a female and he is a male, they can touch both brothers and sisters.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I think when you said it a little bit ago, if you're confused, if the Bible seems contradictory, I think what it is is there's unending wisdom within the words of this book. The limit does not exist in the Bible. And so if you're reading one scripture and then that becomes everything, you've missed the point because they all interconnect with one another. So it's not just taking one scripture and saying, well, this is what the Bible says and that's where I'm staying. No, you got to read this scripture and then you read that scripture, and Old Testament connects to New Testament. And it would be silly of you to only take one scripture in that exact only context, and then that be your all.
SPEAKER_02Right. Because my favorite Bible verse is I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4 13. It would be absurd and silly for me to go grab a sword or grab a weapon and go kill people and say, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Red flag, red flag, out of context, not what it means. Even though I'm declaring that and I'm saying that, that's very, very wrong. So as much as that seems absurd and crazy to say, because let's just go there. Um, I'm gonna read where I said I was gonna start and then go all the way through where it says women should be silent. So it says this is um 1 Corinthians chapter 14, verse number 29 on. Two or three may prophesy one at a time if they have the gift while all the others listen. But if while someone is prophesying, someone else receives a message or idea from the Lord, the one who is speaking should stop. So there's not 8,000 people or like 15 people saying something, and then what? Nobody can hear, nobody can understand. So one person at a time, and then it goes on. In this way, all who have the gift of prophecy can speak one after the other, and everyone will learn and be encouraged and helped. Remember that a person who has a message from God has the power to stop himself or wait his turn because it's God's power. So if they don't have that self-control which comes from the Holy Spirit, that's the fruit, then you know automatically right there it's not from God. If they're like, hold on, I can't wait, I can't wait. Well, it says um that they can because it's God giving them that power. It goes on to say, God is not one who likes things to be disorderly and upset. Wow, he likes harmony and he finds it in all the other churches. And now it goes on to what we're talking about. Women should be silent during the church meetings, they are not to take part in discussion, for they are subordinate to men, as the scriptures also declare. If they have any questions to ask, let them ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to express their opinions in church meetings. You disagree, question mark. And do you think that the knowledge of God's will begins and ends with you, Christians? Well, you are mistaken. You who claim to have the gift of prophecy or any special ability from the Holy Spirit should be the first to realize that what I am saying is a commandment from the Lord Himself. But if anyone still disagrees, well, we will leave him in his ignorance. Wow. So, my fellow believers, long to be prophets so that you can preach God's message plainly and never say it is wrong to speak in tongues. However, be sure that everything is done properly in a good and orderly way.
SPEAKER_01Wow, I just I keep thinking about how the the old me I was before I was a believer, and then before I was married in Christ to a covenant, in a covenant marriage to a godly man, and how it was always I was overtaken by my emotions. I always had to get my point across, I always had to talk, I always had to be the one. And now when the Holy Spirit has changed me and I I take my directive from my husband who who does have the wisdom, and he he definitely is a non-emo non-emotion person. And I think most men, when they are courageously in the spirit of God, like they have emotion, but they don't react on their emotion. And so I'm I'm just paraphrasing paraphrasing, I'm using my own little story here. Hopefully, you can impart yourself into this and understand at least a little bit of what she's trying to say from the scripture. So now I wait, and I usually, unless my husband says nothing, because sometimes he will do that, he he's being encouraged to speak more because he does have a lot of wisdom, but he wants to make sure that it's solely the word of God, which I think is amazing, right? So you take that scenario of a person who is following the word of God, not going by his emotion, not doing what he knows he should not do, right? Like Paul talks about. Why do I do what I don't want to do, even though I know that I don't want to do it, that I shouldn't do it? It's sin living in me. We've talked about that numerous times. So he waits to speak, and I then have a conversation later with him about those things, and I help him see a different point of view. And it's just so much more beautiful because then there's not all these stories and emotions and opinions and things happening. There's more order. God is a God of order, he doesn't do it because he's like whipping you with a stick saying you're naughty. He's doing it because if everyone had their own opinions, everyone had to get their point across, we'd have, for lack of better term, a poop show, which kind of is what we have in the world right now.
SPEAKER_02Right. Uh, and on that, I mean, let's look at what book we're reading. We're reading Corinthians, and then it when I'm reading about the women should be silent, it says, you disagree. And do you think that the knowledge of God's will begins and ends with you, Corinthians? So he's talking to the Corinthians, he's talking to Corinth. And so in my Bible, um, it has a little blurb of what you're about to read before you get into that book. So I just want to share with you, um, because it relates it to the world, and then it brings it back to scripture and what you're about to read. So it says the glittering Manhattan skyline looks good from a distance, but somewhere between those side skyscrapers and a section called the Bowery, New York's alcoholics spend the night on the concrete. For all its splendor, New York has become, according to some, ungovernable ungovernable. Um, and it goes on, it's just too big with too many people jammed into a small area with people too uptight trying to live together. Corinth in ancient Greece was likewise plagued. It was like New York and Las Vegas, combined to sailors, businessmen, and prostitutes who worked its streets. The practical problems of being a Christian in the urban swirl, that's what Paul wrote about in these two letters after having lived in Corinth a year and a half himself. So, what he's saying is all the problems he's seen in Corinth relate to what's going on in New York City and Las Vegas. So combined. Yes. So take that of what he's saying when he's talking about women, like prostitutes. He's talking about um people who are, you know, could be gambling or they're alcoholics up all night. Like take it for orgies, I'm sure there's talk of that. Yeah, so you gotta, you know, this isn't a full-blown history class, but that's something to show you of who he's talking about. He's not he's not talking about, you know, godly women, because if you go back to when Jesus was out of the tomb, who saw him first and who was going to share the good news with everybody first was women. Okay, so we aren't called to be quiet that we don't have a place in this world and men rule the world. I think that's why we've gotten so far off, and there's a feminist movement now, and F the patriarchy. It's like, no, no, no, no, no. We need both, we need and it's one and the other. It's not one is better than. It's it's God created women to help man because it wasn't good for man to be alone. It doesn't say Adam was lonely, it's it wasn't good for man to be alone, so God created a helper. So beast you that right there debunks bestiality, homosexuality because God didn't create another man for Adam. It's not Adam and Steve, it's Adam and Eve. So that right there, I just think it's powerful and a little off topic, but it all intertwines because the Bible's always on topic with the same topic.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I think it's in the book of Acts where the women start coming into the meetings, being a part of the meetings.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they were there. It says several women.
SPEAKER_01We read it, that's what we started with, and they're learning alongside of the men who have already been doing it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because the women were following Jesus too while he was walking here on earth. Yeah, yes, he Jesus did life with the disciples, but there was also other women around and being discipled with the disciples. But if you think of, you know, you know, sisters in Christ are doing life together. Well, they have husbands, they have brothers, they have cousins that are male people in their life. Same thing with brothers in Christ. Yes, they're doing life together closely because they're brothers, they're there's just something to that camaraderie of doing life with, you know, the same species. You you understand one another because you are that as well. But then they go home and they have wives, they have sisters, they have mothers. We uh we're doing life together. Um, as somebody would say, more spaghetti, less regretti. It's not just, oh, all the women are doing it together and all the men are doing it together. No, we need everyone, women and men, doing life together, especially in the body of Christ.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that. I think if you read through the book of Acts, it is just so incredible. There's so much wisdom and knowledge in this book. And if you have any questions or things that we have said that have piqued your interest, definitely go into the book of Acts. And I can't remember if I touched on this in the beginning, but Sunday is the day of Pentecost. It is the day, and I encourage you to do something this Sunday, just honoring the Holy Spirit, honoring what he has done in and through so many people. Take the day and just worship and praise him. There is there is a song that I've been listening to like crazy because it's so beautiful. It's called Breathe on It. You can look it up by Torm Wells, but it talks all about that. You have the whole the song by Patrick Maverick, Holy Spirit come. Like I highly encourage and challenge you this Sunday, which is in two days, plan to spend some time legitimately with the Holy Spirit. I know y'all go to church, hopefully, on Sunday, but this is separate. This is between you and Jesus. Let him fill you. And I there is to me, there's something powerful about it being a specific day, the day of Pentecost, the day when the fire filled them. I personally was I was baptized in September of 2020 in Lake Michigan. But then in 2022, I didn't even know what I was doing. I'm sure I've talked about this before, but I was in Miami with one of my friends, and he was like, This is the day of Pentecost. We need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit fire. And I was like, I don't know what that means, but sure, that sounds like something I would want. Is it biblical? Is it scriptural? And so we, him and I both went out and we baptized one another in the Holy Spirit, like fire of what we knew at the time for it to be. And it was Pentecost day, and I will never forget that. And the crazy part is I can look back now on my life and I can see what he has done since that day. And it is incredible. We call it the fast track. God puts you on the fast track when you are ready, when you're fully devoted to him, and his fire fills you, and it becomes so much less of you and so much more of him. And I had somebody say to me on Saturday, you know, I always see new believers when they when they meet Jesus and they're so excited. And I always wonder, how long is it gonna last? How long is that fire gonna last?
SPEAKER_02That's really sad.
SPEAKER_01It is, but it's not the first time someone has said that to me. Oh, you're a new believer, that fire will fade. But it's true because I and I think it's because the revelation I'm receiving right now is because they don't know the person and the work of the Holy Spirit and what he can do. Because in the Bible it says, Greater works will you do than he. How is that even possible that we will do greater works than God?
SPEAKER_02Because Jesus was one person and now he's given us the gift that he had, the Holy Spirit. Now it's in every person who claims the name of Jesus that they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and that they believe in him. And so if there's millions of people who have the same spirit that lived in one person, Jesus Christ, who now lives in them. Now they're the how many hands is that, how many brains is that? How many ears is that? How many eyes is that? How many bodies is that?
SPEAKER_01Well, and that's even like I we were talking, the pastor was talking at church yesterday about how Islam will pray five times a day. Sorry, thank you. Muslims will pray five times a day, no matter where they are, no matter what they're doing, they stop. All of them stop and pray. And can you imagine the power in that? And and and and the to the wrong God, right?
SPEAKER_02God that is not even because what they're doing is praying to the praying to the demonic.
SPEAKER_01Right. And but yet for us as Christians, can we pray five times a day? And our God is more powerful and majestic than anything in this entire world. But what are we doing? Eh, when I need something, eh, when I have time, eh, when I'm not tired, then I'll pray. These people pray five times a day without fail. Can you imagine if we prayed five times a day without fail or more in your coming, in your going? Pray without ceasing, pray at all times in all circumstances.
SPEAKER_02Uh, I don't know who it was. It was a pastor or somebody who was saying, pray without seizing. What does that mean? It was a very good friend. It was a brother in Christ. And he goes, So for me, you know, I wake up and I instead of talking to myself and I have every chitter chatters up here, it's me talking to God. Yep. And what I've what and he said, what I've realized is I just don't say amen until my until my head hits the pillow at night. And so I pray without ceasing because it doesn't stop. I just talk all day long to God. And finally, when I go to bed, I say amen. So instead of just one prayer after another, it's just this long conversation between between myself and God all day long. And when it's time for me to go to bed, I thank him for the day and I say amen for everything I've got to talk to him all day because I'm tired of talking to myself. And I was like, wow, that is so good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because what does it mean to pray without ceasing? It's a conversation. Prayer is a fancy schmancy word. I tell my kids this, my students all the time. Prayer is a word, something to say that you're having a two way conversation with Jesus. Yeah, two way conversation with the God, the creator of the universe. Universe and the Holy Spirit will help you. And that's why He gave us the gift of tongues or the gift of interpretation to help one another and build one another up, whether it be to help build each other up or to help build your own self up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And can you imagine waking up and saying, Father God, fill me with an overflowing stirring up of your Holy Spirit today?
SPEAKER_02In my fan, in my like layman's terms, lingo, I'm like, Holy Spirit, activate. God help me. Holy Spirit help me, lead me, guide me, show me what to do because I don't want to miss it. I have an agenda, but you tell me where to go. Um, for closing, I just want to show you or read to you, if you will, what the book of Acts is about. Just like I just did for Corinthians. I like to do it for Acts to show you what it means because it went from living an ordinary life to an extraordinary life when the Holy Spirit power came on them. And that's what God's calling you to do. That's what He's calling everyone to do who's a believer in Him is you don't have to live this life anymore. You get to leave live an extraordinary life. It's not just the ordinary, it's the extraordinary. And that extra comes from God. Yeah. That extra is from the Holy Spirit. It's a gift from Jesus to all of us. And it says this dramatic book of Acts can open with the door to witnessing for us ordinary people with an extraordinary life within. These first century Christians were quite ordinary, non-superhuman, yet they turned the world upside down. Can you say that sentence again, please? These first century Christians were quite ordinary, non-supermen, yet they turned the world upside down. And it wasn't until the Holy Spirit fire came upon them and then they went out to turn the world upside down. And it led to persecution, it led to people um crucifying them. Like in this life, you will suffer, but take heart. Jesus has overcome the world. So you're gonna have a target on your back, brother, sister, when you are doing something to edify the body of Christ. And that is a badge of honor. Look at Charlie Kirk, look at Erica Kirk, look at Donald Trump. He was called and created for such a time as this. Nothing comes into the natural realm unless it happens in the spiritual first.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And if people love a person, if everyone loves them and they never do anything wrong and they're always perfect, I would challenge you to think, what are they, what are they teaching and what are they growing? How are they growing and who is who are they bowing to?
SPEAKER_02Yes. So this to end the acts, what you're about to read when you go there yourself says God's command to speak out for him is possible to obey. It can become a natural part of your Christian life. That is living the supernatural in the natural because it becomes the natural part of your Christian life. As Christians, we should look different than the world. Yes. And how is that? It's having the extra in the ordinary, mundane life, which is only by the Holy Spirit. I didn't mean to cut you off.
SPEAKER_01No, I think I cut you off. I think about the harvest is plenty and the workers are few. How she said in the book of Acts, the explanation, like we are ordinary people doing extraordinary things with the majestic power of Jesus living in us. And there are nine spiritual gifts. But of those nine spiritual gifts, there's hundreds and hundreds of things that come off of those spiritual gifts. There is unending possibility within this book to be able to live the dream that God has put into your heart that nobody else, it doesn't make sense to nobody else because it's your dream that God has filled you with. And so you ask him for your wit for his wisdom and revelation for whatever gift he has given you. He has the power to give you all of them. If your faith in him is strong enough to know that his power lives in you and it's unlimited, it says in the Bible, you will do greater works than he, then you will be able to go out and live the life according to what he wants, his desires, his plans, not yours. Jeremiah 29, 11, everyone quotes it for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm harm you. But what does he say after that? Come to me and pray. And what did they say in the book of Acts? Wait for my coming and go pray.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And while they were praying, that is when the Holy Spirit fire fell upon them. And people thought that they were drunk. And they're like, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not drunk. It's the middle of the day. Yeah. And I'm speaking in this because they all it was very new to them. And now it's just so amazing what God has done. I mean, there are churches that are biblical sound doctrine churches that are preaching and speaking and teaching the name of Jesus because there are many proclaimed churches out there that are claiming the name of Jesus, but I don't know what Jesus they're following. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And um I'm and they're not teaching about the Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_02No. And with that, um, how much more now would it be if every church decided, hey, let's go to back to the first century Christians and what they were doing? Let's go back to the book of Acts. They're doing life with one another, they're praying with one another, they are going out and doing things by the Holy Spirit power, not by their own. Um, that's why you got to be careful because there are people, you know, angels disguised just like light, and they are not. They are from the demonic and being used in that way inside the church of hey, you know, I got a message or I got a word for somebody. Anybody who has knee pain or anybody who is suffering from um depression, come up here and if you have $5,000. No, no, no. God is not a God who takes. Yeah. So you'll know the difference right then and there.
SPEAKER_01This is all coming to you like you will know them by their fruit. It doesn't matter how much money they have coming into their church. It's are they loving? Are they leading? Are they guiding? Are they building up the church and creating an environment for people to go out into the world and build up the church, build up the bride for the coming of Christ?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, God isn't asking you for your resources, He's asking for your obedience. So if somebody's trying to take something tangible from you, then you know right there that that is not from God. And tithing is different.
SPEAKER_01You should have this relationship with the Lord, ask him 10%. Where do you want the 10% to go? It doesn't have to go to your church.
SPEAKER_02No, it can go to um it could go to uh the missionaries, yeah. It can go to a church that you watch online, yeah. It can go to the nonprofit organization that you know is biblically backed up by the word of God. Yep. Um, and that that's a whole different thing. But if somebody is, if somebody's saying, like, I'm the prophet, and if you come to me and you give me your money, different. Yes, that's red flag. Yep, it's different than God saying, you know, you give me the 10% and I will do so much more with the 90. Different because you're not a business transaction. Yes, it's a it's a one-on-one business transaction, then this is going to build the church, which is multiple body. This is going to um just like the book of Acts, they utilize everybody's resources. This is going to the pile of everybody's resources to be used to go out and do more good.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I think about just the love, the love verse in Corinthians. And if you're giving in love, you're not expecting anything in return. It's not a conditional. Here, I prophesied, give me money. Okay, you prophesied, I'll give you money. I get this. Like that is a business transaction. It is not the way that God ordained it in the church.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And so when somebody says, I have a word, it's to edify the body and to build you up. And they're giving freely because they were giving freely, because that's the gifts that God has given them to edify the body. It's not meant for you.
SPEAKER_01Well, and in all reality, I just holy whoa. When you are, when someone, let's say I I give Sarah a prophecy, a word of prophecy, and she receives this word of prophecy, she goes out and uses that word of prophecy for to plant seeds, and then God comes and waters it, and then this, the, the flowers grow because of that. We have a more beautiful world because it wasn't about me getting something after her gift gets to go out and flourish for other people. It's about what we're trying to do, what God is trying to do within all of us, which is love. You put I pour out my love to her, which is the Holy Spirit. She goes and plants her love to others, which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit grows it and it's bigger and better because of all the lives that she has touched through the prophetic word that God has given me. And then those lives are affected because they hear it, they receive it, they grow from it, and then they go out and teach others. And it's not just me, the one person getting money from per from Sarah because I gave her a gift, and then it's just me with my money all by myself. It's hundreds of people in heaven.
SPEAKER_02Yes. It's about souls saved, it's about making heaven crowded. And in that, it's living the extraordinary in the ordinary, because ordinary people who don't believe worldly people that are living ordinary lives would keep that all to themselves because it's about growing my kingdom and my house and my will. It's all backwards when you live in Christ's kingdom, when you live for the Lord, it's about growing the entire body, it's about growing his kingdom. So it's not me keeping it to build my home and my will, it's about going out and building his kingdom and his will. So difference between tithe versus anything worldly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And there's, you know, God is not a God of confusion. So when we the way that I described it with Sarah and I, that's very clear. It's very peaceful. It's challenging, it might become difficult, but it's super easy and it's super peaceful. Whereas the other one, there's almost like this tight anxiety grip and the pain and the like, well, well, why am I not getting what they said I would get? And they prophesied and I paid the money, and now I'm I'm broke because I paid too much money because it wasn't what God wanted. And there's this like tenseness to it, whereas when it's from God, it will just be peaceful and simple. Not easy, but simple because God is a God of order. And so we're sharing this with you because we do believe that you can have these gifts. You can go out and share and explore and grow and lead and guide, and it will be just as beautiful and majestic as God Himself here on earth, like it says in the Lord's Prayer on earth as it is in heaven.
SPEAKER_02I want to end with a story from this weekend that passed, because I think it was such a great depiction of the body of Christ coming together as one, utilizing each gift that God had given them specifically to make something happen for another um brother and sister in Christ. And so um and it's an awesome depiction too because it was a wedding and we are the bride of Christ, and he's coming down for us when we are ready to be equally yoked with him. So we got to share with a sister and brother in Christ who got married this past weekend. And I got to be a part of the behind the scenes before they walked down the aisle and said I do. I got to see their reception and what God was doing in that and for them, how much brothers and sisters that knew them and loved them used their gifts to make their special day as special as they could by the ones who love to cook and love to serve in that capacity, put on for them. The people who love flowers and had the understanding of how to put bouquets together and decor together and make it beautiful and have her vision come to life. The person who knows how to coordinate and organize and plan, come together and put this on. So when she walked down the aisle, it was everything in her mind she could she dreamt about. And it and then the music person who knows what he's doing and he's very talented and gifted in putting on the lights and getting people hype and um running the microphones and the sounds to do all of this because of their love for this couple, as their brothers, as sisters in Christ, and to see the body work together to make it all happen simultaneously as like one and move so they could have the most special day that starts the rest of their lives together as one union in Christ was so powerful to me because in the world, yes, you can see that, but everything's like I think almost a competition. Like, well, this was okay, and this person was better than the next, or like I would recommend them because it's cheaper. And it's like you just saw the hands and feet of God come together in what they are talented and gifted in to make this happen for this sister and brother. And it was so awesome to see. And those are the gifts coming together because we all need one another, right? Like I said said it before more spaghetti, less regretti. It's messy, but it's beautiful. When you're assigned, when you're doing life together intertwined, you get to see the best and the worst and still love in that. And it was so cool to see the when the gifts come together, what good comes from that? There was no competition. There was no, I'm paid more, I'm better than. It was all we're doing what God's called us to do because we love. Because all of that is great, but without love, what's the point?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. All right. Thanks for uh hanging with us today. This was amazing. I pray that you just feel an abundance of the Holy Spirit. I pray you're gonna take this Sunday and spend some time with Him, letting Him love you and pouring His Spirit out on you like it talks about in the book of Acts. Have a beautiful, majestically godly, amazing, fearless Friday.
SPEAKER_02Amen. Bye.
